double, the same?

watercolor, gouache and ink on paper.

the one on the left was made in 2004 and the one on the right was made last week. which one is more valuable?

the initial drawing comes from a different less-anticipated place. The second, in it's self-consciousness states it's intentions quite clearly.

i agree that the first is less anticipated than the second, and that the second is selfconcious in its very existance, however i am sincerely interested in hearing what you percieve its intentions to be.

The first is certainly less anticipated, the second more self-conscious, yet in the tradition of Japanese print masters the second could be thought of as an improvement on the first. You may have corrected some flaws or simply brought a new understanding and clearer intention to the second. It may not show in the work itself, but perhaps in the explanation of the work (artist statement etc.).

P.S. I brought one of your prints from TinyShowcase. It's really great.
