to anonymous: i agree that the first is less anticipated than the second, and that the second is selfconcious in its very existance, however i am sincerely interested in hearing what you percieve its intentions to be.
The first is certainly less anticipated, the second more self-conscious, yet in the tradition of Japanese print masters the second could be thought of as an improvement on the first. You may have corrected some flaws or simply brought a new understanding and clearer intention to the second. It may not show in the work itself, but perhaps in the explanation of the work (artist statement etc.).
P.S. I brought one of your prints from TinyShowcase. It's really great.

the initial drawing comes from a different less-anticipated place. The second, in it's self-consciousness states it's intentions quite clearly.
